At Heaton & Associates we pride ourselves in developing strategic solutions for our clients to use in enhancing, as well as protecting, their overall wealth; unfortunately, however, the current economic climate has made it more and more challenging for the entrepreneur to adequately protect what little remains of the wealth they worked so hard to develop, cultivate, and preserve over the past several years. As “The Attorneys to Entrepreneurs,” we would not be offering our clients the advice and counsel they need if we did not also provide legal counsel relating to bankruptcy.
The Heaton & Associates team of attorneys includes a highly-respected and experienced bankruptcy attorney who primarily handles complex bankruptcy petitions for relatively high-net worth entrepreneurs, and while not all of our clients will require his more advanced bankruptcy skill set, they can take comfort in knowing that an attorney with his knowledge, skills, and abilities in bankruptcy matters is member of the Heaton & Associates team.
Many would likely agree that “bankruptcy” has such a negative stigma associated with it that too frequently the person in financial distress that could benefit from speaking to an attorney about bankruptcy will instead refrain from doing so, cross their fingers, and merely hope that they make it through the tough times ahead. Instead, what these individuals should do, especially entrepreneurs, is speak with an attorney about bankruptcy sooner rather than later. The entrepreneurs’ reluctance to consider the options and various protections afforded by the bankruptcy laws stems from a fear that to do so would destroy what they have worked so hard to build and create; but what these individuals need to understand is that the longer they wait, the fewer options they may have available to them. Whereas speaking to an attorney about bankruptcy early on will allow the attorney greater flexibility in developing a well planned and structured bankruptcy strategy that is more likely to get the entrepreneur back on their feet much more quickly; and not only more quickly, but they could end up being more competitive as well!
